How Does it Work?
HealthLYNX T communicates, tracks, and audits the pharmaceutical process from the moment the doctor enters the order, through pharmacy fulfillment, to the point where the nurse administers the medication.
Step 1: Order Entry
The physician uses the MedLYNX component to quickly and easily
create an electronic script order. Quick type searches and drill down screens
facilitate a brief 5 step process to ordering a specific drug and dosage. At
the time of entry the order is cross checked against existing prescriptions the
patient has. If any adverse drug interactions are evident a warning screen
informs the doctor and the order is not committed. If no adverse interactions
are noted the order is immediately routed to the pharmacy.
Step 2: Pharmacy Processing
Pharmacy staff use the PharmaLYNX digital dashboard which
immediately notifies them of all orders. New orders are presented in the order
they arrived. Pharmacist staff can select any order, fulfill it, and change its
status to notify units of script readiness.
Step 3: Bedside Point Of Care
Nursing staff use the NurseLYNX component to ensure the right
medication is given to the right patient at the right time. At the time of
administration the nurse scans a bar code on her ID badge, scans the barcode on
the patient's wrist band, and finally, scans the barcode on the medication.
HealthLYNX immediately performs a background check to ensure that this is the
right medication for this patient. HealthLYNX retrieves a history of recent
medication deliveries and performs an adverse drug effect check against other
drugs the patient is prescribed. The nurse is then given either a 'red
light' to NOT administer the drug or a green light to continue with the
administration.
